Celebrating 300 million connections and counting…..
On September 3rd, Ding passed the extraordinary milestone of 300 million top-ups sent since the business began in 2006. We are proud of the 300 million connections that have been made using our platform, and the lives that have changed by having access to mobile in this data-driven age.
Having access to all that the digital economy has to offer is valuable for individuals and their communities. Ding is about empowering people to access their phones and allows them to use the web on their phones. It is also about enabling those connections – for people working far from home to send that gift of mobile access to their friends and family back home. In fact our 300 millionth top-ups was sent by a user from a store in Saudi Arabia to the phone of a loved one back home in India.
“Ding has built a digital highway connecting family overseas with family back home…”
Commenting on the extraordinary milestone, Mark Roden, founder and CEO at Ding said: “We set out with the desire to change billions of lives by accelerating mobile access, and we are proud to say we are doing this every day via the Ding platform.”
He added:
“Ding has built a digital highway connecting family overseas with family back home and as we hit the extraordinary milestone of 300 million top-ups we feel we are just getting started and are particularly excited about the future.”
The business is in an unprecedented growth phase as the number of prepaid phones in the world swells to four billion, and with one quarter out of credit at any one time – the appetite for top-up has never been greater.
