Covid-19: Continuing to maintain connectivity now and in the future

With the rapid escalation of the CV-19 pandemic, staying in contact with distant loved ones has never been more important and today we announced that we are waiving all fees on ding.com to make it easier and less costly for our customers to stay in touch.

We all have a role to play and technology companies in particular can make a huge difference during this crisis. Many businesses are instructing their employees to work from home, and meetings are switching from face to face to video conferencing. Not just to maintain people connectivity, but to keep our societies functioning. We may not be able to be in the same room, but real contact can be made from any point across our planet.

Connection remains key

With the outbreak of pandemics such as Covid-19, people want to ensure that close friends and family are untouched by the virus, while businesses need to function to stay afloat.

When considering the outbreak of Covid-19, workers are now well equipped to work remotely for their safety. Better connectivity means they can avoid travel in the face of mandatory quarantine like what is now being seen across the world. However, at this time we think of the many foreign workers that still have to go to work every day in order to do their jobs on construction sites, in manufacturing or domestic roles in houses. Keeping them in touch with their loved ones now and providing them with the comfort of knowing how their families are doing is so important and that is why we removed our fees today.

The urgency with which action must be taken to curtail the spread of this virus is undeniable, as is the catastrophic impact it will have on the global economy. Technology, while beneficial for the functioning of some businesses, does not enable all workers to continue earning money but helping people to stay connected with family can help lighten the load in a small but important way.
