Ding expands in Oman with Global Money Exchange partnership

Oman, 3rd July 2019 – Ding, the largest international mobile top-up platform, continues its Middle East expansion partnership with Global Money Exchange Co. GMEC, the premier exchange company in Oman having customers with a vide range of diaspora living in Oman, can extend the facility to send international mobile airtime.

International top-up, which is the most efficient micro-value transfer option in the market, has long been seen by the Middle East expatriates as a convenient add-on to cash remittance. Oman is a popular destination for the diaspora – with expatriates making up approximately 45% (two million) of the population. Many are supporting family back home in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines – where on average 95% of phones are prepaid and in need of top-up.

The new partnership means that Global Money Exchange’s customers will now have access to Ding’s network of 500+ mobile operators, across 140+ countries.

In a joint press release, Muhannad Hassan, Ding’s General Manager for Asia and the Middle East and Mr Madhusoodanan, General Manager of Global Exchange Company said: “This new partnership further strengthens our business in the region and also provides two million migrant workers in Oman with more options to help them stay connected to loved ones. The airtime is credited in real-time, directly to the recipient’s mobile, and in local currency, which is a valuable gift.”

Oman is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in Western Asia, with some 6.5 million mobile phone connections, according to GSMA statistics – some 89% of these phones are prepaid.
