A date for the diary…..
The 2019 conference calendar kicked off in style with MWC in Barcelona in February. The event, which Ding was delighted to attend, saw a record crowd of 109,000 people, from 198 countries roaming the eight halls, over the three days. It set the bar high for organisers looking to follow in 2019.
Money2020 has a jam-packed agenda for 2019 – with Money2020 Asia done and dusted, after a well-attended event in Singapore in March, Money2020 Europe will get underway in June on the 3-5th, in Amsterdam. This will be followed by Money2020 USA, which will run in October from 27-30th in Las Vegas, and Money2020 China, which takes place in Hangzhou in December 4-6th.
VivaTech takes places once more on May 16-18th in Paris, France. This is the world’s rendezvous for startups and leaders. They are expecting over 100,000 attendees over the three days, which kicks off with Tech4Good hosted again this year by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.
Others on the docket include Collision in Toronto which takes place on May 20-23rd, and Rise which takes place in July 8-11th in Hong Kong. HK Fintech week will take place in November and will consist of three days in HK and 1 day (the last day) in Shenzhen. This year the organisers have announced significant expansion to the annual event, moving to a bigger venue to accommodate a greater variety of programmes, business events, exhibitors and attendees, after the success of the 2018 edition.
In August, the annual All Wireless & Prepaid Expo will once again arrive at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The event runs from 20-21 August and is a mainstay of the prepaid market.
Websummit takes place in November 4-7th, once again in Lisbon. For 2019, MoneyConf has been rolled back into the Websummit event – with a few other changes expected to be announced in the coming months. Self-styled as the best technology conference on the planet and a must attend – it rarely disappoints.
In Africa, AfricaCom gets underway in November in Cape Town, South Africa. It promises to be another stimulating year on the industry event front.
*Tell Ding if you have an industry event we can include in our next edition.
