Every action counts
In recent months it has become clearer than ever that we live in far from an equal world. The pandemic has revealed the stark contrast in how different members of our communities are treated in times of difficulty – while the anti-racism riots in the US have shown that we are not living in an egalitarian society, where every one is accepted for who they are. The pandemic has indeed tested us, but it has also given us time to pause to look at these inequalities and try to act to do something about them in our communities.
On this World Refugee Day, we would like to recognise that Refugees are fighting and trying to survive on the frontline of this pandemic, in these unprecedented times. We would like to recognise the plight of these 68 million displaced people. And also recognise that we can all contribute to making a more inclusive world – no matter how small the action we take – every action counts, which is a timely theme for this year’s World Refugee Day.
