Ding CTO Barbara McCarthy named Woman of the Year
Ding, the largest international mobile top-up platform, is delighted to announce that CTO, Barbara McCarthy has been honoured with the top accolade – Woman of the Year – at last night’s Women in IT awards, which were held at the Mansion House in Dublin.
On announcing the news the judges noted that: ‘The winner of this category is a true trailblazer. During her career of more than 20 years she has often been the only woman in the team’s she has worked in and earlier this year she was named CTO of her company and is one of only a handful of women at a technology company who has managed to become a CTO.”
Futhermore, they noted: “She is a pioneer in software development and has also spearheaded initiatives for gender parity and diversity across the industry. She has also been a mentor to young women seeking a career in technology and endeavours to do her bit for the pipeline of STEM talent in Ireland.”
The Women in IT awards were set up to showcase women in technology paving the ways for others.
Commenting on the award, Barbara McCarthy noted: “I feel so honoured to have received this award, and I’m looking forward to continuing to do all I can to encourage diversity in the technology industry.”
Since its launch, in 2015, the Women in IT Awards have showcased women in technology in London, New York, Ireland and Silicon Valley. This year the awards series will expand to Singapore, Berlin and Toronto.

Last month, Barbara was awarded the Grace Hopper Award in the annual Women in Tech awards – which is named after the pioneering computer scientist and pays tribute to a female STEM professional, whose exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions have made a lasting impact on technology, society, and their profession.
