Ding inks new deal in UAE with digital payroll service provider Edenred
UAE, 18th September 2019 – Ding, the largest international mobile top-up platform, continues its Middle East expansion with a new partnership with digital payroll service provider Edenred.
Currently serving more than 2,000 companies, over 10 banks, 30 financial institutions and a million cardholders of their C3 salary card – Edenred addresses the specific needs of unbanked individuals by digitising their wages and providing them access to essential financial services such as money remittance and advance against salary.
The new partnership with Ding will allow Edenred, through its mobile app MyC3card, to provide mobile top-up to its customers via Ding’s network of 500+ mobile operators, across 140+ countries.
Commenting on the new deal, Muhannad Hassan, Ding’s General Manager for Asia and the Middle East said: “This new partnership further strengthens our business in the UAE and provides migrant workers locally with more ways to support their families back home. The airtime is credited in real-time, directly to the recipient’s pay-as-you-go mobile, and in local currency, which is a valuable gift.”
International top-up, which is the most efficient micro-value transfer option in the market, has long been seen by Middle East expatriates as a convenient add-on to cash remittance.
Commenting on the new partnership Anouar Bourakkadi, Chief Operating Officer of Edenred UAE said, “This partnership with Ding underscores our commitment to continually enhancing our offering by providing services that make a real difference to our customer’s lives. With high mobile penetration rates both here and in their home countries, the ability to gift airtime is a tangible benefit that we are certain will be appreciated by cardholders.”
UAE is a popular destination for the diaspora – with expatriates making up the majority of the population or approximately 80%. Many are supporting family back home in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines – where on average 95% of phones are prepaid and in need of top-up.
UAE is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in Western Asia, with two main operators and 18.6 million mobile phone connections, of which 83% of these phones are prepaid or pay-as-you-go phones, according to GSMA statistics.
